How to change a Polaris clutch with a clutch puller?

To change the clutch on a Polaris ATV or UTV using a clutch puller, you will need the following tools:

  • Clutch puller tool
  • Socket set or wrench set
  • Ratchet or breaker bar
  • Hammer
  • Loctite
  • Grease

Here are the steps you need to follow to change the clutch on your Polaris:

  1. Park the ATV or UTV on a level surface and make sure the engine is turned off.
  2. Remove the primary and secondary clutch covers to access the clutch.
  3. Use the clutch puller tool to remove the primary clutch. The tool fits over the clutch hub and pulls the clutch off the crankshaft. You may need to use a hammer to tap the tool to loosen the clutch.
  4. Clean the clutch and the crankshaft. Remove any old Loctite or grease from the surfaces.
  5. Apply a small amount of Loctite to the crankshaft and install the new primary clutch.
  6. Reinstall the secondary clutch and tighten the bolts to the proper torque specifications.
  7. Apply a small amount of grease to the splines of the secondary clutch to ensure proper engagement.
  8. Reinstall the clutch covers.
  9. Test the ATV or UTV to make sure the clutch is functioning properly.

Note: Always refer to the factory service manual for your specific model and year to ensure you follow the proper procedures and torque specifications.
